Post Traumatic Stress DisorderPost Traumatic Stress Disorder is an emotional illness generally brought about by being involved in an extremely frightening and life threatening event or long term exposure. For example, attending horrific accidents. Nightmares & FlashbacksThe experience can be overwhelming to the person and leave them having constant flashbacks of the events as if its happening in real time. These flashbacks leave them feeling in a constant state of hyper arousal. Some may feel angry and hyper vigilant and unable to sleep. If these symptoms go on for longer than 1 month then some form of treatment should be considered with medical treatment along with therapy. Long periods of these anxiety states can impair our ability to function and can become debilitating. |
